Our tutors are all creative young professionals working in their field.

 

Pierpaolo Belfiore

Pierpaolo Belfiore graduated from Plumpton College in 2018 with a foundation degree in creative metal working. From there he took up a place in Julian Stephens’ workshop where he quickly advanced to a high level in jewellery making and now works as a master goldsmith.

Barnaby Simpson

Barnaby is a Silversmith and Jewellery Designer with eighteen years experience. Barnaby has a BA Hons degree in 3D Crafts in Wood, Metal, Plastics & Ceramics from Brighton University and studied Jewellery Silversmith & Allied Crafts at London Metropolitan University. In addition to his educational experience Barnaby has been working for Julian Stephens for the last seven years as a full-time, self-employed Jeweller also running his own successful Jewellery Design label.

Julian Stephens

Julian studied 3d Crafts at Kent Institute of Art and Design specializing in silversmithing.

Taught by Norman Bassant and Ian Calvert (both cartier award winning craftsmen) Julian went on to work for Richard Fox in London and then Pruden and Smith in Ditchling where he gained a broad understanding and expertise in this unique and complex craft. In 2003 he opened the doors to his shop and workshop and has been creating ever since.

Julian regularly teaches silversmithing courses at West Dean College in Chichester, West Sussex.
