Rachel Strange
Rachel Strange is an independent jeweller based in the East Sussex countryside, creating bold, textured and unconventional jewellery. After enrolling in the 6-week intensive course at North Laine Jewellery School, she developed a fierce passion for making, which led to the launch of Rachel Strange Jewellery in 2023.
Working from her solar-powered workshop, Rachel uses lost-wax casting techniques to create what she calls “unrepeatable” pieces, one-of-a-kind designs inspired by the surfaces and abstract shapes of Brutalist and Modernist jewellery and drawing on her love of psychedelia, alchemy and the stranger sides of the natural world. Her art jewellery pieces are a celebration of organic textures, asymmetry, colourful gemstones and individuality.

"I’ve been a student at the North Laine Jewellery School for a couple of years. In that time I’ve gained a range of different skills, from stone setting to lost wax casting. The teachers are patient, easy going and give each individual student plenty of one on one time to go through each step behind the jewellery making process.
The collections I’ve made have been centred around medieval and gothic inspiration. My proudest collection so far is the 3/3 weapons collection, incorporating things like axes, flails and shurikens. To make these I’ve had to take from many different parts of jewellery making such as gem setting, casting, piercing, soldering and more."
DIRECTOR
Julian opened his shop in 2003 after ten years in the trade working first as a silversmith making trophies and church ware, and then as a fine jeweller.‘In 2003 my ambition was to create a state-of-the-art workshop apable of producing the very finest quality jewellery’. Julian has a team of talented makers turning their skills to realize Julian’s designs both for the window and one-off bespoke pieces.
